ISRO is offering a free 5-day course on AI and ML for Students, with a Certificate awarded upon completion

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is offering a free 5-day online course on artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) from August 19 to 23, 2024. This course, part of the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) outreach programme, is aimed at fostering innovation in the space sector and beyond. There is no cost to participate in this programme.

Since its inception in 2007, the IIRS outreach programme has expanded to over 3,500 institutions, including universities, government departments, research institutes, and NGOs. It has been pivotal in advancing geospatial technology and its applications.

Course Eligibility

This course is open to professionals, students, and researchers in fields such as civil engineering, computer science, and geoinformatics. It is particularly suited for those interested in applying AI, ML, and deep learning (DL) to geospatial challenges.

Course Content

• Introduction to AI, ML, and DL
• Machine Learning Methods: Supervised, Unsupervised, and Reinforcement Learning
• Deep Learning Concepts: CNN, RNN, R-CNN, Faster R-CNN, SSD, YOLO, and their Applications
• Spaceborne Lidar Systems
• Machine Learning using Google Earth Engine
• Python for Machine/Deep Learning Models

Participants will have access to lecture slides, video-recorded lectures, open-source software, and demonstration handouts via the e-class platform.

The online sessions will run daily from 4 pm to 5:30 pm

How to Apply

To register, participants can use this link. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Individuals will automatically receive login credentials for the ISRO LMS upon approval. For institutional participation, organizations should designate a coordinator to register their institute as a nodal centre. If approvals are pending, participants should contact their nodal centre coordinator.

Certificate Award

Participants who complete the course with a minimum attendance of 70% will receive a 'Course Participation Certificate,' which can be downloaded from the ISRO Learning Management System (LMS).
